[NASDAQ:TNXP]Tonix Pharmaceuticals Completes Clinical Stage of Phase 2 PREVENTION Study of TNX-1900 for the Prevention of Migraine Headaches in Chronic Migraineurs

Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: TNXP) is gearing up for a game-changing announcement in early December 2023 as they anticipate the release of topline results from their Phase 2 clinical trial. This trial is focused on TNX-1900, a novel formulation of intranasal oxytocin that incorporates magnesium (Mg2+), which has shown promising potential in animal models for enhancing the analgesic effects of oxytocin.

What sets TNX-1900 apart is its unique mechanism of action. It's designed to block the release of CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide), a key player in the pathogenesis of migraine headaches, from trigeminal ganglia neurons. This targeted approach aims to reduce systemic exposure while effectively combating chronic migraine, a condition that affects an estimated four million individuals in the U.S.

Seth Lederman, M.D., Chief Executive Officer of Tonix Pharmaceuticals, stated, "TNX-1900 is being developed as a novel, non-CGRP antagonist approach to treatment for chronic migraineurs." Despite the availability of several migraine preventives, there remains an unmet need for innovative treatments.

Gregory Sullivan, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Tonix Pharmaceuticals, expressed gratitude to the participants, their families, investigators, and researchers who contributed to the study's completion and eagerly awaits the results.

The Phase 2 PREVENTION study, a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, evaluated the prophylactic use of TNX-1900 for chronic migraine prevention. It involved 88 participants across approximately 26 U.S. sites, and topline results will provide critical insights into the drug's efficacy and safety.

Migraine is a widespread neurological condition, affecting approximately 1.2 billion individuals globally, with 39 million sufferers in the U.S., including four million with chronic migraines. Current FDA-approved drugs for migraine prevention primarily include CGRP antagonists, but TNX-1900 offers a fresh and promising alternative.

TNX-1900's development as a non-CGRP antagonist is a potential game-changer in the migraine treatment landscape. The Phase 2 results, expected in early December, will be a significant milestone in Tonix Pharmaceuticals' quest to provide relief to those battling chronic migraines.

Intriguingly, TNX-1900's mechanism of action and potential applications extend beyond migraine treatment, including binge eating disorder, pediatric obesity, craniofacial pain conditions, and social anxiety disorder, showcasing its versatility in addressing various health challenges.

With the promise of innovation on the horizon, Tonix Pharmaceuticals is poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of migraine sufferers and beyond.
